International Media Summit 2026 Held in Jamalpur, Bihar

Journalists from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka discuss media cooperation, press freedom and professional challenges

JAMALPUR, MUNGER, BIHAR | SEPTEMBER 22, 2026:
The International Media Summit 2026 (Global Media Summit 2026) was held at Siddhi Vinayak Marriage Hall in Jamalpur, Munger district of Bihar, bringing together journalists and media professionals from several South Asian countries.

Organised by the All India Journalists Union (AIJU), India, the summit aimed to strengthen dialogue, cooperation and experience-sharing among media professionals across South Asia.

Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Dr. Bhim Singh attended the summit as the Chief Guest, while Munger MLA Pranav Kumar was present as a Special Guest. The programme was chaired by Ranjit Samrat, National President of the All India Journalists Union.

Journalists and media representatives from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka participated in the summit. Raju Lama, President of the SAARC Journalists Forum International, and Secretary General Abdur Rahman were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bhim Singh said journalism plays an important role in connecting society with information, ideas and facts. He stressed the importance of cooperation among journalists across South Asia to make journalism more responsible and effective.

Raju Lama emphasised the need for regular dialogue and cooperation among journalists of South Asian countries. He said cooperation should extend beyond news exchange to issues such as journalists’ rights, professional safety, press freedom and common challenges faced by the media sector.

The summit also witnessed discussions on contemporary challenges in journalism, developments in communication technology, professional safety of journalists, press freedom, international cooperation and strengthening relations among media professionals.

Representatives of the SAARC Journalists Forum Nepal Chapter, Bihar Chapter and Madhesh Chapter, along with journalists from different regions, participated in the discussions.

The organisers said the Jamalpur summit has laid a foundation for strengthening mutual relations, dialogue and cooperation among journalists and media professionals across South Asia.

Participants described the summit as an important platform for exchanging professional experiences and discussing common challenges facing journalism. They expressed hope that such initiatives would lead to regular dialogue and stronger cooperation among South Asian media professionals.
